Hi all, while conducting a WCAG audit, I came across an image with meaningful information that is embedded within a link. The link text is meaningful as well. This image is however marked up as a background image using CSS. Would this be a failure?

Thank you.

If meaningful information is conveyed through an image, it's essential that the information is presented in a way that can be perceived by users who may have visual or other disabilities. When you use a background image for this purpose, it's often not accessible to screen readers and other assistive technologies, which rely on semantic HTML elements to convey information to users.

    Hello,

A failure, not necessarily for me.

If the text is meaningful enough, it could be considered as just an inconventional way of styling a text with an image in the background.
