Accessibility refers to the practice of making digital products and services accessible for use by people living with disabilities whereas Usability refers to the extent to which digital products can be used effectively with satisfaction by people with disabilities. Note that a digital product can be accessible but not usable.

Accessibility and usability are two important concepts in web design and development, but they often get confused with each other.

Accessibility is about making sure that everyone can use a website or product, regardless of their abilities. This includes people with disabilities, such as those who are blind, deaf, or have limited mobility. For example, an accessible website would have alternative text for all images, so that people who are blind can understand what the images are of. Usability is about making sure that a website or product is easy to use for everyone. This includes making sure that the website is easy to navigate, that the instructions are clear, and that the overall experience is user-friendly. For example, a usable website would have a clear and consistent navigation bar, and it would use simple and concise language. In general, accessibility is a subset of usability. A website that is accessible will also be usable for most people. However, a website that is usable may not necessarily be accessible to everyone. Here is a table summarizing the key differences between accessibility and usability: Feature Accessibility Usability Focus People with disabilities Everyone Goal Make sure everyone can use a website or product Make sure a website or product is easy to use Tools Alternative text, screen readers, keyboard navigation Clear navigation, simple language, consistent design Example A website that has alternative text for all images A website that has a clear and consistent navigation bar

Usability refers to the efficiency of how people can interact with your digital platform while accessibility primarily focuses on people with disabilities and aims to ensure that they can equally perceive, understand, navigate, and interact with websites and tools.
